If you don’t like Justin Bieber as a person, it’s because you haven’t opened your mind up to what he has to say. Sure, Bieber has been going through a rough patch these past few years, peeing in mop buckets and egging houses, but there is so much more to him than that. As an artist and as a person, Bieber has evolved, and it shows through his new album, Purpose. This article is not to push people into liking the Biebs, but it is to get people to have a more open mind when it comes to listening to his music. Critics remember him as the little boy who sang Baby and peed in a mop bucket, but refuse to listen to the new music, not even giving it a chance before even listening to it.
The album was released Nov. 13 and the visual album, Purpose: The Movement was dropped out of nowhere the next day. Purpose: The Movement is a 13-video series, made up of powerful and emotional choreography. Most of the videos were starring professional dancers who told a story through their carefully choreographed moves. It is great that Bieber is using his power to showcase talented dancers, who would not be getting the attention they deserved without these videos.
Mark My Words
The video series begins with Mark My Words, a slow intro where he is standing on a piano in the desert, with balled up paper scattered around in the sand. The beginning has him talking about the struggles he has been facing in the past few years with the media. He talks about how he felt like he lost his purpose, but he wants to help people find their purpose through this album.
I’ll Show You
The song is about how the whole world is watching him and how he wants to prove himself to the world. There are two videos for this song. The first one was released before the album came out. It showed him focusing on himself in various scenic locations in Iceland. The video that went in Purpose: The Movement showcased a group of male dancers with great choreography in a garage.
What Do You Mean
This also had two videos. The original video was about a toxic relationship while the video in the movement had the same dancers from his Sorry video. It was a fun video with colorful outfits and dancing at a high school.
Sorry
This video was released before the rest of the album and is another fun video with colorful outfits. It definitely showcases the talent of the dancers and makes people want to get up and dance.
Love Yourself
Love Yourself is another song about a toxic relationship. He is basically throwing shade at whomever the song is about. Is it Selena Gomez?
Company
I’ll let you judge this one yourself.
No Pressure
I think the couple oddly resembles Jelena and Big Sean’s verse is dope.
No Sense
This is a group of girls who are as fierce as they get. The video really confuses me because the song just randomly cuts off in the middle of a phrase. It really don’t make no sense. Get it?
The Feeling
Another song about Jelena! It’s crazy how the dancer looks EXACTLY like Justin Bieber if it’s not his twin. Halsey is just the cherry on top to this. Her voice fits perfectly. It’s such a sweet and addicting song.
Life Is Worth Living
This is a very inspirational and hopeful song that shows a wounded lyrical dancer who gets helped up by the male dancer.
Where Are U Now
This video is just perfect because there are a bunch of people dancing in the aisles of a grocery store and you don’t see that everyday.
Children
The amount of talent these children have makes me feel terrible about my own talents and accomplishments.
Purpose
The video takes the viewers back to the desert. Bieber is surrounded by a group of diverse girls who are admiring and clinging on to him. He sings about how they give him purpose. This song is definitely about his fans and supporters who you might know as Beliebers.
