Chesterfield, Virginia is a county with a population of roughly about 332,400 people. Chesterfield County sits south of Richmond in the Commonwealth of Virginia and it's home to all of the coolest people in the United States (though, I may be a little biased). When many people think of going on vacation, Chesterfield, Virginia never comes to mind (and honestly, I don't blame them... Virginia Beach or Williamsburg are 2 places probably more fun to go visit). But, for those who do find themselves in Chesterfield, VA for whatever reason, there are some nice little treasures amongst that you HAVE to go visit. So, I'm starting a new series: The Beginner's Guide to Chesterfield. We'll travel together to the hidden beauties you'll find around Chesterfield. So, let's go on an adventure

Stop One: Jimer's Frozen Custard

Jimer's is a frozen custard stand located on Hull Street Road. One of the main things you need to know about Jimer's is that it is not ice cream, and if you call it ice cream Jimer will correct you... it's frozen custard. But, it is the best frozen treat you'll find in all of Chesterfield County (don't even try to fight me on it, you will lose).

So, what does Jimer's serve?

Jimer's mainly focuses around the two most popular flavors - vanilla and chocolate. If a cone is what you're after, they are the only two flavors to choose from (and of course you can swirl them together, too), but you definitely won't be missing any of the other flavors once you have a taste of this sweet custard that I'm convinced came straight from Heaven. Jimer's also orders sundaes of different flavors, like chocolate and strawberry, milkshakes, snow cones, floats, banana splits, and so much more. There is something for everyone at Jimer's.

So, what could be better than all the different flavors and choices? Well, definitely the price. Jimer's offers their treats at a price that won't break the bank and you're definitely getting a bang for your buck. When you order a small at Jimer's, expect it to be the size of a medium everywhere else. The picture above this is of a small vanilla cone at Jimer's - so crazy, so cheap, and SO GOOD.

Next time you're in Chesterfield, you better swing by Jimer's. But just remember, don't come by on Tuesday.

Their hours:

Monday: 12:00 - 9:00

Tuesday: CLOSED

Wednesday: 12:00 - 9:00

Thursday: 12:00 - 9:00

Friday: 12:00 - 9:00

Saturday: 11:00 - 9:00

Sunday: 1:00 - 8:00

You can check out Jimer's on Facebook and find out all of the details of where to find your next cone!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
