1. When you look at the first question on your exam and realize that you have no idea what you are doing.

Just when you feel like you know all of the material, you suddenly forget everything you ever learned as soon as that piece of paper hits your desk.

2. Learning new material.

Nothing beats the pure confusion that floods your brain while learning a new lesson and you have absolutely no clue where to even begin.

3. When the professor asks, "Are we ready to move on?"

Not only are you behind on writing notes with the PowerPoint presentation that's up on the board, but you have absolutely no idea what the professor just explained.

4. When class is canceled.

Class canceled = more nap time.

5. Trying to stay awake in class.

The struggle is real.

6. When your friend drags you with them to their social events and you just want to go home.

Just when you were trying to be a good friend, you realize that you could be eating snacks in bed with Netflix instead.

7. Just when you think you have everything under control, more work piles up again.

Feeling like you are above water in all of your work doesn't seem to last for long.

8. When you decide to nap instead of being productive.

You can't study with a tired brain, right?

9. The look you and your friends give to each other when you know it's going to be a good night.

When you and your friends come together for a night of fun after a stressful week, nothing can stop you.

10. Becoming the mom for your friends after a rough night out.

As much as it can be absolutely terrible and draining, becoming a mom for your friends after a night out is inevitable. No matter how tiring it may be, it's important to remember that at the end of the day, we love our friends no matter what. We help them and they help us in return.

11. When you and your friends finally figure out the material.

Nothing is more powerful than a good study group. If you don't understand what is going on, you have your friends to carry you through or go down with you. Either way, it's better with friends.

12. Checking your exam grades.

Did you pass? Did you fail? Let's hope for the best next time.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
