Before her reputation as a notable author, Jane Zarse was all over the place. She discovered alcohol, and it became her only companion as she spent her days hungover. Nonetheless, Jane fought her way back from the darkness and became a fighter against alcoholism. She wrote books, namely "Sober and Pissed off" and "Love and Compassion is My Religion – A Beginner's Book into Spirituality,"; which became the highlights of her life.
Early Life of Jane Zarse
Jane Zarse was born on July 28th, 1971, in Lake Forest, Illinois, and spent all of her childhood there. She got her bachelor's degree from Boston University on the Dean's List. She attended a prestigious private academy where she lived a popular life by driving an Audi to school. She first took up acting in New York City, but then changed to trading at Chicago's Options Exchange.
She was struggling to love herself; while she further dived into depression after her mother died due to a heart attack. She took alcohol as an attempt to avoid feeling emotional pain and continued not to love herself. She also ended up divorcing her husband and was drowning deep into the darkness. In her book "Sober and Pissed off," she writes that she started to believe that she was drinking to live. She also admits that she was not gutsy enough to kill herself, but she was hoping that alcohol slowly poisoned her to death.
Her life was a continuous struggle; since during her last year as an acute alcoholic, she was on a couch in Gary, Indiana. She was unemployed, and she had no penny to her name; while she was close to getting alcohol-induced dementia.
Jane Zarse's Path of Redemption
Jane Zarse claims that she did not lose anything because of alcoholism, but she gave away everything for her disease. She continued to put alcohol to dictate her life as it continuously consumed her existence. Not to mention that her physical health was deteriorating rapidly. Her kidneys were failing, and she was admitted to the emergency room many times due to violent detoxing.
Alcoholics Anonymous group was her way towards salvation; as she started to attend meetings. Nonetheless, the transition phase was not easy; since she wanted Alcoholics Anonymous to cure her drinking problem quickly.
The Changed Life of Jane Zarse
The program's main goal was to let God become everyone's spiritual guide. The first step towards recovery for Jane was her change in perception about God and the members in her group. She started to believe that good can happen to anyone.
The belief that there is a higher power that is greater than human existence became a catalyst for Jane's recovery. There was a book at Alcoholics Anonymous known as "AA Bible," which taught her, self-love and self-acceptance. Additionally, she also learned that the biggest limitations that people place on themselves are negative thoughts in their heads. This change in mindset led her to become more compassionate to herself, and eventually to other people.
She came to know that she had a thinking problem; rather than a drinking problem. Given that, she was entirely sure that she could not quit drinking. However, she began to hope in the power of God, and that's what she claims to have "saved her life."
The New Jane Zarse
In her path to redemption, she not only found closure; but also found inspiration to be a better person. Her first book, "Love and Compassion is My Religion," she gave a heartfelt outlook on how she started to love herself as she climbed her way back from the ends of darkness. She explains that the belief and love for God helped her to get back on her feet.
Jane Zarse is a living example that divine intervention is the only weapon to fight darkness, be it in the form of severe alcoholism or anything else. With the love of God in people's hearts, there will always be salvation.
Jane's first book got excellent reviews, and she gained worldwide attention. Through her social media platforms, she helps tens of thousands of people who are in the recovery phase. In hindsight, she is in the top 2% of the influencers on twitter.
Jane's message is that the cure for addiction is to know that there is always someone who cares, which can assist in quitting drinking. By believing in the love of God, one can grow the courage to fight the battle with darkness. Moreover, she believes that the journey towards recovery starts by improving their relationship with God.
