Here are six songs to dance around to in your leisure. Just one thing: make sure no one is around!
1. "Come On Eileen" by Dexys Midnight Runners
I can't explain it, but this song makes me feel like I'm in a coming of age movie. It has a sort of goofiness that just adds to the character of the song. I actually have to move while listening to this song. It's just so fun and chaotic in all the best ways.
2. "You Should Be Dancing" by Bee Gees
Oh, the Bee Gees. Most of their music could be on this list, but this, for obvious reasons, had to be included. Such an upbeat and fun song that just brings out the inner disco queen you didn't know you had in you. I think the '70s and '80s produced so many amazing songs to have the best dance sessions too.
3. "Shake It" Metro Station
Since we're already on good throwbacks, let's throw it back to an iconic song from 2007. This song has a certain type of energy that most 2000s songs have, its hard to explain, but you know what I'm talking about. I remember dancing to this song when it first came out, and the amount of excitement it brings when I hear it hasn't changed.
P.S. Looking back on the songs I was jamming out to at that age (seven) and what they actually mean is slightly concerning.
4. "Sweet Talk" by Saint Motel
Between the instrumentals, the lyrics, and the production, this song is a certified bop. Saint Motel is such a great group and has so many songs that could make it on this, but this song is definitely one of my favorites.
5. "Tongue Tied" by Grouplove
How could I talk about songs to dance to and not mention "Tongue Tied?" Every time I hear this song, I instantly get happy and want to jump around. It's just a really good song to sing at the top of your lungs in the car with your friends, or alone in your room.
6. "Finesse" By Bruno Mars ft. Cardi B
Bruno Mars and Cardi B?! You're kidding me. This is a duo that I didn't know I needed until this song, and now I need more. This is a song you can listen to for so many reasons. Need a confidence boost? Listen to "Finesse". Need a turn-up song? Bruno and Cardi got you.
