There is so much political tension happening today, that we have forgotten that people have a right to an opinion. We have forgotten how to treat others who differ in political views; even religion, culture, and race. Keep the idea of political opinion in mind for this post specifically. Hear me out: when someone mentions their views on politics, our government, and how we believe this country should be run, its hard not to feel an angry vibe from the person sitting next to you.
It's hard to speak up in a country that shuts you down for what you believe even though we are the land of the free. Social media is just as bad. Twitter is full of angry Conservatives and Liberals who point their fingers at each other. Have we forgotten that not everyone has the same views and that there is no excuse to criticizing each other?
Topics like climate change, abortion, gun control, immigration, and same sex marriage can easily start a fire in a conversation, and even tear people apart from their loved ones. Having respect for each other does not mean we are convincing the other to change their minds, or the fact that they're wrong. It simply means that you are a human being who is practicing their constitutional right, and that there is no criticizing of the other because of what they believe in.
