It is about doing what you want to do in life, even if it makes you unusual.

People can commonly be uncomfortable if they do not do things that society says they are "meant to." The truth is, it is absolutely okay to be different from the rest of the world. Ever since I was little, I have always accepted and enjoyed being different. I still do. it is important to understand that we are not talking about being different just for the sake of it. It is about doing what you want to do in life, even if it makes you unusual. In fact, it is a good thing. Here is why:

1. Life is short

Let's face it, life is short. It is FAR too short to just do what is normal because normal is BORING! I have always liked the idea of finding opportunities outside of the "norm" because I find regular life to be mundane. I do not like the idea of a steady, plain, stable 9 to 5 job, sitting on the couch when I get home, watching reality TV until it is bedtime and waking up just go to back to the SAME job at the SAME place and pay the SAME bills until I retire on a tiny pension. This is REALITY for the MAJORITY of the ENTIRE WORLD!!!

2. It makes you, YOU.

First of all, let's be honest. You do not want to be just like everyone else: not only is that boring, it is actually very limiting. By doing things differently to what everybody else does, it makes you unique as an individual. You create your own characteristics, your own archetype, you can develop a combination of personal and professional skill sets that make you a one-of-a-kind.

Embrace what makes you unique.

3. It makes you interesting.

Following on from my last point, you become a much more interesting person. Have you ever been out somewhere, and you ask someone what they do for a living, and when they give you a really random, uncommon, outside the box answer, you are so interested to hear more about what they do? The focus of this article is to be comfortable in your own skin, but it also makes you more appealing to other people because you're special and unusual.

4. It gives you more perspective

Even if it is not in a major way, if you are living life slightly differently from the rest of society, you have a different mindset. You question the way things are the way that they are, what can be done differently, how to change things. If you're the same as everyone else, you will just blend in and be part of this scary, repetitive community with tunnel vision that just makes you another sheep in the pack.

5. It Makes You Stronger

It can be exhausting being yourself when you live in a world where everyone else wants you to be something else. This is standard, we cannot expect everyone to understand, but this makes you stronger as a person and it also makes you more self-aware. Personal strength is critical to success in life, as well as accepting constructive feedback, whilst ignoring irrelevant criticism.

6. It makes you more accepting.

By being unique yourself, you listen better to members of your family, team, and friends. You are far more welcoming to others that are doing their own thing. Lots of people in life will tell you-you are silly for being different, that is just life. You do not need those people, and by meeting others that are like you, you connect quickly. Relationships are a perfect example of quality being more important than quantity.

"Why fit in when you were born to stand out? — Dr. Seuss.

Never feel uncomfortable, inadequate or in any way negative for being yourself. Embrace what makes you unique, and realize the good in standing out from the pack!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
