There are some that are satisfied by the so-called fall of Taylor Swift and then there are people that couldn't really care less.
The real question is whether or not this whole feud is actually affecting Taylor’s career because let’s be honest, she probably doesn’t care unless it starts to affect how much money she’s making. She has always been known to write songs about her exes and there seems to be a pattern in what kind of songs she writes about them. The songs are beautifully written, no doubt, because Taylor is immensely talented, but they always seem to throw the ex under the bus in some way.
She is always blaming someone else for the end of her relationships and until now, everyone believed her. However, people are starting to wonder if she is really just talented at playing the victim. Recently, it has been revealed that she was not nominated for any awards for the upcoming VMA’s and there is some controversy on whether or not that has anything to do with her recent brush with the media. She hasn’t been cast in a very good light and people wonder if that is causing problems for her career. Some college students who have been following the drama shed some light on the subject. Some people find it downright despicable, such as a 23-year old ASU student who said, “I think it’s petty and dramatic. Musicians talk about each other all the time in their music and you don’t see them behaving this way. I think both parties are immature and petty and need to get over themselves.”
This student clearly thinks that both Kanye and Taylor are to blame for the feud. Of course, both parties did respond fairly quickly to all of the drama. Kanye immediately took to Twitter, even allowing his wife to do his dirty work while Taylor was quick to defend herself on Instagram but only on account of the curse word Kanye used to describe her in his lyrics to “Famous”.
It seems that she approved of the song lyrics otherwise. It is similar to the time when she called out famous ex Harry Styles after winning an award for her hit song, “I Knew You Were Trouble”. She has no problem being in the limelight if she is the strong, feminist victim. She doesn’t seem to care that her ex boyfriend Calvin Harris is throwing shade on Twitter though and for someone who’s discreet about their love life, she was all smiles when the photos of her and new beau, Tom Hiddleston, fell into the limelight.
Maybe another younger ASU student said it best when she stated, “I think it’s hilarious, it’s like a girl fight. You think it’s trashy, but you can’t look away.” Whether or not this is all some kind of dumb drama, Taylor’s die hard fans have definitely been shaken. Many comments and social media shout outs for Taylor have been found asking her why she has been acting so differently. Maybe Taylor doesn’t know it yet, but she might be starting to lose her iconic all American girl charm. Either way, I suspect people are still going to belt out the music of both her and Kanye in their cars on the freeway.
