So I've been late when it comes to new shows dropping on Netflix.. So after a week, I finally watched Insatiable season 2 this past weekend and my god, y'all I don't know what Netflix was thinking with this show. I watched season one and the dark comedy was horrible but we love to hate it. So I was glad to see that it was getting a second season because I wanted to know what happened after the finale.
Until I started on season 2. Warning, there are spoilers for the first two seasons going forward.
Last season ended with Patty and Bob sunk Christian's car after Patty killed him in self defense after he kidnaped Magnolia, her competiton in the Miss Magic Jesus Pagaent. This season starts off with a murder and ended in a murder. To summarize it all, there's a pagant killer on the loose while Patty continues to solve her problem with over eating. She does go to over eaters annoymous but she still thinks she's too fast when her body is fine. She works herself to exhaustion on the treadmill and thinks people are rejecting her because she's fat. There's random storylines thrown in the second half of the season and it puts Patty in jail but she does eventually get out. Bob is framed by Regina for the murder of all the contestants and Patty wins the crown. Patty vows to clear his name by hunting down Regina and killing her, she's killed six people at this point.
After watching, I'm sitting on the couch asking, what was the reason for season 2? Why not have Patty learn to be confident in herself rather than rely on other people's approval to make her happy. Instead she becomes a blood thirsty serial killer. This show started off as a dark comedy about a girl looking to get revenge on the people who were horrible to her and find happiness with themselves. Now she finds happiness in killing? How is any of that happy? What is Patty going to gain from killing rather than going back to jail?
Well we'll have to wait to find out next season cause Netflix will bring this show back for another season cause they cancelled half of their actual good shows and their riding the coat tails of the popular shows like Stranger Things. With Disney+, Apple TV, and HBO Max coming, they have no choice but to keep this crazy train going.
