When the first announcement came out that there was going to be another Incredibles movie, fans freaked out. The first movie was something extraordinary and amazing that people couldn't believe that it was even created. The first movie was such an original idea, funny, and had such a great storyline. Pixar has had a record of making amazing first movies and having their sequels sink really badly. So did they do it right this time?
I was hoping with all my heart that the second "Incredibles" was going to live up to all the hype and that they did something truly amazing. I was hoping that they just blow it out of the water with this one. So too be honest, I give it a 7/10 stars. I understand that it honestly was a great movie but something just wasn't right.
They used 14 years to get the movie perfect to their standards.
The art and details of the movie was something that they really didn't have before, due to technology restraints but now they do. The art was phenomenal. I have no complaints with the art. The technology we have now allowed them to truly amaze us with their skills and talents. The 14 years that passed by was used so the artists can take their time with the art and truly give us life and details into every stroke, pencil tip, and mark.
What didn't settle well with me was the storyline. When I first heard that they were going to pick up where they left off from the first movie I was pretty amazed. No one really does that. Still, they make their decision and they still had everyone hyped for it. I did like how they literally picked up where they last were but the story didn't stick with that villain or particular storyline. The storyline that choose to go with did have a message to be spoken with in today's society and had a strong appeal with what people are going through but they way they choose to portray it wasn't something that I liked.
The way that Elastic girl finally was getting a chance to be the face of supers because she usually was in the shadow of Mr. Incredible was a great story but only to be betrayed by the only other women in the movie due to her not liking supers wasn't worth that 14 year wait. The story was predictable, my friends and I knew who the villain was 20 minutes into the movie. The story was an obvious one and was frankly, used before in other movies. The plot was just so obvious that I couldn't just get past the fact that 14 years went into the movie.
The movie overall was honestly, a great one. I didn't fall too deep into the hole of bad Pixar sequels. Still, 14 years was just too long to have come up with a story that had been done before and was super obvious. I love the Incredibles but Pixar shouldn't have played with my heart like that.
