If You Want to Be Truly Creative, You Should Look for Some Unusual Experiences

It is my belief that every person can be creative...

Absolutely everybody could come up with ideas that have a positive impact on the world. Everybody has the potential to come up with ideas that can make money. Not everybody will ever get to that point, though. This is because they are not 'triggered'.

In the world of creativity, triggers are those things that completely change the way in which your brain works. There was a study placed in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology that suggested that any unique experience in life could completely change the way in which people think. It could be any experience in life, no matter how traumatic or how joyful, that can trigger creativity. These experiences, which people go through, have a profound impact on the way they view the world.

Take moving to another country, for instance. You are going to be like a fish out of the water. You will have headed to a completely new culture, not 100% sure what to expect when you get there. It is an experience like no other. Your creative juices will be flowing because you have a new perspective on things. Likely a perspective that nobody before you has had before.

Changing My Lifestyle

Honestly, if I want to get my creative juices flowing, I don't really need to do that much. All I need is to give my brain a bit of a "shake up" and I'm good to go. Even something as simple as eating a slightly different lunch one day will completely change the way I think or taking a different route to my favorite restaurant. We know that these are not the most adventurous of experiences out there, but things like this have been psychologically proven to work. Well, at least for me.

Travel

There is no experience more unique than travelling. Everybody experiences travel in a slightly different way. You will have had unique experiences in your life which lead you up to this point. All of these experiences will have shaped the way in which you see the world. These experiences will shape the way you see the culture of a place.

For example, I was raised in a very strict Christianity environment. For that, I always will gravitate towards the religious history and cultures of a country. Similarly, if you were raised to love food, you will be aiming for the cuisine.

The thing about traveling is that it enables me to think differently about things that may have been familiar to me in the past. This is really what creativity is all about. It is about thinking differently. The most creative people in the world are those people that were not afraid to break away from the norm. These are the people that came up with new ideas, not rehashing old ideas.

Volunteer

You are going to need to don your work boots for this one, but boy is it going to be thrilling!

When you volunteer, you are, once again, going to be getting a unique perspective on things. Honestly, volunteering (in most cases), is not going to be the most adventurous thing in the world. However, it really does help with creativity.

When you volunteer, you will learn of the many people out there who have the same passion as you do. I for one has this passion for saving stray and abused dogs on the streets. At first, I think my advocacy is stupid and nonsense, given that some of my loved ones laughed at the idea, but when I get together with the same type of people who shares my cause, my whole viewpoint changed!

It is no secret that many of the biggest innovators in the world have engaged heavily in charity work. It is something that really does work well for them.

The best part is that it is going to be very easy to find locations that you can volunteer at. I bet that even if you live in a small location, there will be plenty of places in the local area that you will be able to volunteer at. If you still need that sense of adventure, then you may be able to take part in some of the more unique experiences 'overseas'. Perhaps you can help to build a village. Maybe you can volunteer on a safari. There are plenty of options available to you.

Try Something 'Scary'

Have you bungee jumped before? Have you skydived? Nope? Well, that is brilliant! You are about to unlock a treasure trove of creative potential. Various studies out there have indicated that those who engage in something which makes them fearful of their life (you are safe in those activities, trust me), are more likely to be creative. This is because, once again, you are going to be getting a new perspective on things.

Attend a 'Weird' Event

Paul McCartney, of The Beatles, did this a lot. It helped his creative juices start to flow. The more absurd the event, the more your brain struggles to make sense of it all. When your brain is struggling to make sense of everything, new ideas will start to pop up in it.

Obviously, go for the good type of weird. Don't be the bad type of weird which is just going to be irritating to everybody. Remember that the most successful artists in the world are those who are deemed to be a little bit more eccentric. They are outsiders looking in. This is what you want. Embrace your weirdness!

So, if you wish to shake up who you are as a person, then you need to embrace the world in a way that has never been embraced. Look for those experiences that you may not have otherwise have tackled at another point in your life. Be as weird as you want. Always seek out unique experiences and you will be more creative than ever.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
