What would you do if you had all the time in the world?

As a college student, I find myself becoming more and more caught up in my education and day-to-day routine. I spend more time planning for my future career than I do talking to peers. Of course, there's nothing wrong with being ambitious and focusing on school, but there is a point when it becomes detrimental.

At the end of their life, a vast majority of people end up regretting the fact that they put work or education over their family and friends.

When so much is riding on your education, it's hard to take a step back and look at your life. How much of it are you wasting? How many chances are you giving up to stay in your room and study? I've caught myself countless times turning down outings with friends to stay home studying, only to regret it and feel lonely afterward.

If I more time, I would go on that date, have lunch with my friends, stay behind to get to know a professor, learn new skills, travel the world. But I do have time to do all these things, and if I keep taking the time to just think about wanting these things, I'll lose the time I'd have to actually do them.

If I had all the time in the world, I would spend it doing and enjoying the little things, because, in the end, those are things that will bring me joy.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
