If Anxiety Rules Your Day, Listen To These Songs

Slow your mind and day down; I promise it's going to be OK.

Sometimes you just have one of those days or weeks when fear, worry, and anxiety goes wherever you go. Whether you're struggling with anxiety attacks and physical symptoms, or constant thoughts that are plaguing you, sit down and take a break. When life begins to be too much, step away but don't let lies rule your mind.

Give yourself some time; you will be OK.

1. "Slow Your Breathe Down" by Future of Forestry

Slow your breath down, just take it slow

Find your heart now, whoa

You can trust and love again, whoa

2. "Without You" by Leslie Odom Jr.

The heart yearns

The tears dry without you

Life goes on

But I'm gone 'cause I die

Without you

3. "Rainbow Connection" by Sleeping At Last

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers and me

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers and me

4. "It's Gonna Be Okay" by Jenn Johnson

Just take one step closer

Put one foot in front of the other

You'll get through this

Just follow the light in the darkness

You're gonna be okay

5. "Stand By You" by Florence and The Machine

So darling, darling stand by me

Oh, stand by me

Oh, stand now

Stand by me

Stand by me

6. "Atlas: Hearing" by Sleeping At Last

"Love is an echo" is woven throughout the song. It gives it a calming, peaceful sound, almost like a beating heart.

7. "How Long Will I Love You" by Ellie Goulding

How long will I love you

As long as stars are above you

And longer if I can

How long will I need you

As long as the seasons need to

Follow their plan

8. "I'll Keep You Safe" by Sleeping At Last

I'll keep you safe

Try hard to concentrate

Hold out your hand

Can you feel the weight of it

The whole world at your fingertips

Don't be, don't be afraid

Our mistakes they were bound to be made

But I promise you I'll keep you safe

9. "Ocean Floor" by Gianna Jessen

And I'm still here in the ocean floor

But I can't feel my heart beat anymore

In this quiet I have changed

'cause I can hear my God call my name

10. "Note To Self" by Ben Rector

And note to self: don't let yourself worry quite as much

It'll end up fine enough

It always has up until now

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
