I was scrolling on my Facebook and came across this video title 'I Quit,' so I took a chance and watched it. Now it has stuck with me and I cant get it out of my head. Here's what I learned.

1. Quit Trying To Please Others

Giphy

Make yourself happy. In the end are you going to look back and see how unhappy you were trying to please everyone? If so, would you be okay with that image?

2. Set Your Own Expectations

This is something I really need to work on. I am too busy living up to what my parents want from me. Or what my friends expect of me. But, what do I expect of myself? What are the expectations I have?

3. BE SELFISH

I cannot express this enough. When it comes to your mental health and your sanity PLEASE BE SELFISH. DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO BE HAPPY. It is more than okay to do this and whoever tells you differently is dumb and you shouldn't be friends with them. rant over.

4. Set Yourself Free

Stop bounding yourself to people who are holding you down and keeping you from being successful. You won't be who you were meant to be if you don't break yourself free from them.

5. Wake Up and Make Things Happen

Making yourself fit into this box that society has created is BS. Don't strive for perfection, strive for happiness. Wake up, do what you love, stop stressing about small things, go out and make things happen for yourself.

6. Don't Let Your Past Affect Your Future

Stop living in the past. There is so much to look forward to in life. If you let the past take over it will just drag you down and keep you down. Let it go, move on, live life.

I linked the video in this post, go click the title, watch it yourself and see what you take away from it. It stuck with me for the last few days and maybe it will for you too. Maybe you watch some of his other videos. Personally, I have fallen in love with his videos and they are wonderful to listen to. Maybe you don't watch it, then at least take something away from this article. Let's create a happy world starting with creating a happy you and a happy me.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
