I've always been an explorer. From trying new restaurants to finding a new lookout point, travel and adventure has run in my veins for 18 years. So when my high school offered a trip to Europe run by my favorite teacher you know I had to take advantage of it.

This trip was my graduation present so as the minutes inched towards graduation, it also inched towards the moment I get to explore Europe. The day of departure arrived and I was anxious yet excited, this would be the first time going to a foreign country without my parents by my side. But by them not being there, I truly grew into the person I am today.

I knew only one person out of the group of fifteen students I was traveling with. This forced me to be more outgoing and taught me how to be more flexible with other's views and opinions. From going in and only knowing less than a handful of people, I was able to meet two of my closest friends; Julia and Cameron. They have taught me so much about myself and have helped me become so strong and courageous.

On this trip we travelled to England, France, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. Going to many places means many new cultures to be immersed in. I tried to learn simple phrases like "thank you" and "have a nice day" in the countries respective languages. I felt it was my duty in a sense while traveling to their home to be courteous and respectful, as I hope they would do for mine. By learning so much about these countries cultures and traditions it made the experience so much more meaningful, than just a vacation.

Finally, to remember this trip for the rest of my life, I kept a handwritten journal for the three weeks I was in Europe. By journaling, it helped me relax and unwind while also helping me find what I am passionate about. This passion being writing. When I returned home, I read my journal to everyone because it gave such amazing details of this life-changing experience.

Overall, traveling has made me so much more mature. It taught me how to get along with others, find a passion, and how to create friendships and memories for a lifetime.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
