A Gilmore Winter Break

How To Do Winter Break -- Gilmore Girls Style

If you haven't seen "Gilmore Girls," I recommend logging in to Netflix and start a binge - watching sesh immediately. This show hits home for every kind of person: the mother/daughter duo, the daughter who can't stand her mother, and any girl who has been in any kind of relationship. The perfect boyfriend, the bad boy, the rebel-- whatever it is, "Gilmore Girls" has you covered.

And when it comes down to how to live, few can do it better than the Gilmore Girls. Barney Stinson says he has it down, and even goes so far as to teach his fellow bros Ted and Marshall. But may I go so far as to say that he could use some lessons from the reigning Lorelais?

Now, cue in winter break. A little over a month of time basically designed for television, eating and shopping (three of the Gilmore Girls' best and most mastered traits.) Take some cues from the famous mother daughter duo and do this break right:

1. Take some time to relax.

If you're a perfectionist like Rory, then this is extra important for you. Winter break (emphasis on the break) is a time for all of us to slow down and chill out after a long and exhausting semester. Take at least one day to give your body the proper number of hours of sleep it deserves.

2. Eat as much as you possibly can- you deserve it.

Yeah, ok, not everybody can quite handle the Gilmore diet. But #treatyoself still applies. It's the end of the semester, and you're on a break. Go for that third slice of pizza and order that extra piece of cake!

3. Remember when those final grades do come out, it's not the end of the world.

4. Take some time to do something fun and crazy.

Take a road trip-- go inside the store you've been making mental notes to visit down the street. Be a tourist in your own city.

5. Do not start your day before 11:00

Unless you have a job, there is no reason I can possibly think of that you should start your day before 11:00. Take the time to sleep. Or if you're restless, take the time to know that you don't have to be anywhere. It's a great feeling.

6. When it comes time for the holiday parties where all your family friends do is ask you why you're single, take a hint from Lorelai and find the emergency exits:

7. Have as much holiday spirt as you possibly can.

A Gilmore Girl knows Christmas spirt. Though a holiday cup of peppermint coffee at Westons may not be possible, a holiday drink at Starbucks is. It is difficult to have a bad day with a goofy holiday sweater on and a peppermint hot chocolate in your hand.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
