We need God more than ever now, but why don't we make time for him?

With exams, classes and club meetings, it seems like our schedules confine us. We can fit Sunday service into our schedules but how do we allot time for reading our Bibles, praying and being in community? Here are some ways I balance the stress of college and my time with God.

1. Worship Music

The easiest way to spend time with God for me is to listen to worship music when I am walking to class and studying. It warms my heart and I am able to praise God while also doing what I have to do for school. Sometimes I get distracted by the music so I just take a few minutes to talk to God and thank Him before I return to work.

2. Praying Before Bed

After a long and exhausting day, we all just want to crawl in bed. Normally I would sit on my phone and scroll through Instagram, but now I take time to pray. Growing up, we all counted sheep to help us fall asleep and praying has the same effect. I am able to calm down and I take time to reflect on the day I had and pray for the world. Then before I know it, I'm sound asleep.

3. Praying Before Meals

It's a small thing but praying before meals turns into a habit and not only do I feel closer to God but I don't feel alone while I'm eating. It turns into a good habit and your friends on campus can also pray with you.

4. Clubs and Community Service

If you have a servant heart like mine, you have most likely are already involved in clubs in college. Chances are, other members in your clubs are also Christians. If you continue to serve together you will build relationships and you'll be a part of a community.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
