How To Do It All By Being Yourself

In This Article:

Our current generation is looked upon as the lazy generation because we have answers at the tips of our fingers with Google and the advanced internet. A lazy person is someone who doesn't take advantage of what we have in front of us. The advancements made in past years have opened so many doors to upcoming generations. With faster world news, information, and millions of ideas the world is under our own control.

With classes just starting I thought this would be a great article to kick off the semester with. In college, you are most likely the busiest that you will ever be. While trying to be a well-rounded individual, the stress of the world can get in the way.

While balancing school, work, internships, Greek life, and a social life, it's easy to feel like the world is caving in. Being my best self means that I feel like I am thriving in all elements in my life, while sometimes it includes saying no to things I know I won't have time for. Here are some tips that make life a little easier, and more fun while still getting your tasks completed.

1. Prioritize

If I start my day off lazy, it is more than likely that the rest of my day is going to be like that also, which results in half-ass work and laziness in what you do. Everything that you do should be done at the best of your ability, this way you can sleep better at night.

Nothing is better than going to sleep knowing you did everything possible to make your day run smoothly, and successfully. Make a to-do list every day, then number what is urgent to what can be pushed off to the next day. Getting your priorities together will make it easier to say yes to plans that may come up later in the day.

2. Opportunities

School is so important, but the opportunities that you are offered during college may not come again. We are young enough to take advantage of how many things we can fit in a day. Staying busy, fit, and healthy is good for the soul.

3. Work

It is a reality that most students do not have the luxury to not have some sort of income while taking classes. As it is a great feeling to pay for things without your family's help, it can feel overwhelming while doing everything else. Get a job that you enjoy, whether it be working at a bar, an office, or an animal shelter. It is hard to dread what you do when you spend half the day in classes on top of that. Listen to some music, get out of bed, go out, and make it work.

4. Breathe

Working out can be a great way to relieve stress, and good to ensure you don't gain that Freshman 15. Breathe through everything that you have to do, and know that it isn't as big of a deal as you think. Do not freak out. Talk to your family, a friend, or anyone and let it out. Holding it in and keeping to yourself makes it so much worse. Those who don't speak out suffer in silence, so talk about your feelings. Especially when you don't have your family around you to constantly keep in check.

5. Laugh

Life is short, be sure to laugh. Surround yourself with people that empower you, and understand you. College is the best place to meet those people. Take advantage of how many different people you meet, and remember to have fun. Go out, take some shots, be social, and make it to your 8 am class. You can do it all.

My challenge for you would be to set some time for yourself each week and choose a goal to work toward. You'll be surprised how much time you waste when you lay it out, and you can find time for things you think you can't fit in, then you plan!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
