The controversy has gone on for years: when is the appropriate time to start showing excitement and enthusiasm for the holiday season? Some argue that it isn't right to start putting up a tree or blasting christmas music as soon as Halloween is over. Some say that the holiday season started as soon as summer was over.
But, I'm here to say the Christmas season started November 1st. FACT.
Naysayers will say Christmas season doesn't start until the month of December actually starts. But then how come every store you step foot into already has Christmas decorations galore? How come Black Friday, a day notoriously known for people to get their CHRISTMAS shopping done, happens in November? How come all of the new Christmas movies are released in the theaters a month in advance? How come Starbucks has already released their seasonal Christmas cups?
Let's break it down. Thanksgiving and Christmas have their respective differences, but are also very similar. They both encourage a season full of giving, gathering, and focusing on what is truly important. They both require a pair XL sweatpants because you can't fit into your normal pants after eating for days straight. They both give you an excuse to stay in bed or on the couch and watch all of your favorite entertainment. They both occur so closely to one another, it's hard to separate the two. (And if you don't think this, then you're lyin'.)
Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year, and we have to maximize the amount of time we have to celebrate such joyous times. Christmas should be celebrated in all shapes and forms, and getting a little head start never hurt anybody.
