What is home to me?
Home to me is in Sumter, South Carolina. I was born and raised in my small town, and the more I think about it, the more I love it there. Don't get me wrong, going to College of Charleston, and living in one of the prettiest cities in America is great. There is just something about my small town that makes me fall in love with it.
Home to me is simple. Mornings are filled with hot coffee while snuggling up in a blanket watching HGTV with my mom.
Home to me is when I can come home and have my two dogs barking non stop showing me how much they love me. Lizzie, my boykin spaniel never fails to be waiting at the door with a tennis ball in her mouth waiting for me to throw it. Riley, my yorkie poo, begs for my attention and loves cuddles on the couch, And, for my cat Mo, he is my go-to for lazy rainy days. What’s better than a cat nap?
Home is for home cooked meals. Meals that are cooked by my mom always beat the meals that I attempt to cook in my apartment. Something is just so delicious when she makes homemade pizza or spaghetti.
Home is for jam sessions in the car and trips to Cookout with my little brother. Maybe I shouldn't say little since he's sixteen?!
Home is for crisp, fall nights sitting by the fireplace talking about my hopes and dreams for myself. Did I mention the smores and hot chocolate?
Home is for staying up until the wee hours of the night laughing with my sister and talking about everything around the sun.
Home is for gathering advice about college and writing from my older brother.
Home is for rating the morning’s coffee with my dad, and retail therapy shopping at TJ Maxx with my mom.
Home is for simple walks and bike rides around the neighborhoods, seeing old friends and new ones.
Home will always have a special place in my heart.
