Get to Know Your Turkey
Considering you'll be spending some "intimate" time with your turkey, it's a good idea to get to know it a little better. Bob usually has a conversation with it and allows it to volunteer itself for Thanksgiving dinner at the super market. As Tina said, "It's like the bachelor but at the end the one he chooses gets eaten."
Not Everybody's Favorite Holiday
Don't be surprised when you find out Thanksgiving isn't your family's favorite holiday. I know you hype yourself up all year thinking that Thanksgiving is that one thing you all bond over, but face it Thanksgiving is basically just "Black Friday Eve"
Some Things are Just Tradition
Some things are just tradition, and you can't mess with tradition. Whether it be playing football, breaking the wishbone, playing turkey crime scene investigation, or your wife's obnoxious Thanksgiving song, you can always find time for your family's traditions.
Don't Get Drunk Before Dinner
I think we all can agree that the best family gatherings are sober family gatherings. As tempting as it might be to go under the influence whether it be to cope with the screaming children or your catty in-laws, sobriety is probably your best bet. The last thing you want to do is give a drunk Thanksgiving toast full of dry humor (you might never live that down).
Thanksgiving is Family Time
Always remember that no matter what price, Thanksgiving is a time to spend with your loved ones. Even if they do annoy the living hell out of you, sing stupid songs, and treat you like the "help" remember that at the end pf the day, they love you.
