10 One Hit Wonders You Forgot Existed

One hit wonders...songs we love, but we can't remember who the artist is, or what other songs they have produced.

Many fans of music listen to entire albums that their favorite artists produce, never missing a song from them. If you're like me, though, you don't usually listen to albums in their entirety. My taste in music is all over the place: sometimes I listen to rap, others I listen to rock, but most of the time I can be found listening to pop hits. Some of the songs I love are known as "one hit wonders..." basically meaning that this was the only song produced by an artist or group, or the only song that grew in significant popularity (and is likely the only song they are known for). For this list, I'll be tackling 10 One Hit Wonders that you probably forgot about. Prepare yourself for a nostalgia trip!

Hello by Martin Solveig ft. Dragonette

First of all, I cannot believe this song is TEN YEARS OLD. When it first came out, I had no idea who Martin Solveig and Dragonette were, and to be completely honest, I still only know their names from this song. (Do they even have any other songs?)

Tipsy by J-Kwon

The ultimate party song for my friends and me in high school (we had no business singing it at that age). You might remember this one, but can you think of another song by J-Kwon? If you answered no, don't worry, because I can't either.

Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus

I grew up listening to this song. Though I never watched Dawson's Creek, the show used this song, likely leading to its popularity. However, I don't know any other Wheatus songs. I'm pretty sure this is the only song they've ever produced, but if I'm wrong, the other songs certainly are not as popular as this one.

I Love It by Icona Pop (ft. Charli XCX)

This song is still a banger today. Icona Pop has other songs (my favorites are We Got The World and All Night), but no other songs are as popular as I Love It. I can't even blame people because this is such a great song to dance to or sing at the top of your lungs to.

Am I Wrong by Nico & Vinz

I loved this song when I heard it for the first time. Again, I wondered who Nico & Vinz were, and I haven't heard anything from them since this song was released. If they still make music, I'd listen to it.

Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People

This catchy song with a dark meaning is this group's most popular song, without a doubt. I do like their song Sit Next to Me more than this one, but Pumped Up Kicks is the song this group is primarily known for.

Rude by MAGIC!

This was one of my favorite songs in junior high. It was (and still is) so catchy with a great summer sound. However, I don't know any other MAGIC! songs and haven't heard about them since this song became popular.

Somebody That I Used To Known by Gotye (ft. Kimbra)

I haven't heard this song in a really long time and was reminded of it when I started creating this list. It's not a bad song and was popular when it was released. I couldn't even begin to tell you who Gotye and Kimbra are though...I only know them from this song. Have either of them made any music since this?

Bulletproof by La Roux

You may recognize this song because TikTok has made it popular again. It was also featured in a mashup in the Pitch Perfect movie. As far as I know, La Roux hasn't made any other songs...or popular songs, that is, because I only know her from Bulletproof.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl? by Jet

This song has been featured in many shows from Zoey 101 to One Tree Hill. I heard the song on Kidz Bop as a child for the first time and have loved it ever since. It's super catchy and I still enjoy listening to it. But who is Jet? Have they made any music since this song's release? I honestly couldn't tell you.

Yes, these songs were popular, and for the artists behind them, were the most popular songs they would ever produce. Did anything on this list surprise you or cause you to remember anything from the past? I even found songs I forgot about. I hope you remember these songs and find more one hit wonders of your own!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
