To The High School Seniors, I Know What You're Going Through

Seniors,

It's OK to be scared.

This is the time in your life where most of you have picked a school and you're buying t-shirts and other gear to wear to your last few months of high school.

You're beginning to realize that all of the "lasts" are just beginning.

The unknown of if you will get along with your roommate or find a home in that sorority/fraternity you plan on pledging is starting to hit. For some of you seniors, you might not even know for sure where you will go to school.

That's OK.

These last few months of your senior year will be amazing. You will finally start to appreciate your friends, family, and teachers in a way you never thought you would.

You will go to your last prom, your last football game.

You will park your car in its assigned spot for the last time and your mom will come into your room yelling at you to wake up one more time.

On your graduation day, you will stand there in your cap and gown. Surrounded by all of the people you've been in school with for around eighteen years.

Cherish that moment. It all goes by way too fast. I remember being in that position and when I sat at my graduation, I couldn't believe how fast it flew by.

These last few months will also be hectic.

You will start to take your last final exams of high school and you will see your teachers for the last time.

Amidst of all the chaos, you will still be so excited to leave the place you've spent all your childhood in. Appreciate these last few months.

Leaving home is scary. You are thrown into the world and expected to be an adult for the first time. Although this seems absolutely terrifying, it's amazing.

Coming to college has taught me so much.

The first lesson I learned by leaving home was how to live with another person. Although I grew up in a house with four other people, having a roommate is a whole different thing.

You will learn how to share space and for almost everyone, that's difficult.

You will also go to college and be so beyond lost on campus. If that happens, it's OK! Just ask someone for help.

To my girls going through sorority recruitment, remember to just trust the process!! Try to go into college and the recruitment process open-minded.

You will find your home somewhere in a chapter and although the process is long, just be yourself and it will work out.

The transition from college to high school is huge, but it also is an amazing experience.

Do not stress about the little things. When embarking on this journey remember to cherish those last few moments of high school and BE YOU.

Sincerely,

Someone who knows what you're going through.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
