This morning, Harry Styles released the music video for his new song "Adore You," featured on his upcoming album "Fine Line." To say I am flabbergasted is an understatement.
Earlier this month, fans started connecting Styles to a non-existent island called Eroda. Many joked that if Styles was starting a cult, they were all for it. (So was I, but don't tell my mom.)
"Most plausible theory I've seen so far is that it's related to Harry Styles' new album. Several of the Eroda photos were apparently taken in St. Abbs, a small Scottish fishing village where he was recently filming a music video, and some Eroda places match up with song titles." said Andy Baio on Twitter (@waxpancake).
Fans then speculated that Eroda is just the word adore spelled backward, linking it to "Adore You."
Styles released the music video and fans went crazy. The video starts by telling of a small island shaped like a frown where everyone believes in crazy superstitions and is basically miserable. The narrator then tells of a boy with a blinding smile, which is, to no surprise, Harry Styles. Long story short, he becomes best friends with a fish in his loneliness and then the music commences.
Needless to say, it's a cinematic masterpiece. And it's adorable. He basically just takes care of this fish that he'd do anything for. Like it's literally the purest thing. He brings the fish around with him, has picnics with him on hills (#soundofmusicvibes), and bikes him around. Of course, soon the fish grows and he's lugging this giant fish around. It's really silly.
The fish then breaks out of its tank and Harry desperately tries to save this fish that's bigger than him. But then the moral of the story! Everyone in the town, who has up to this point hated Harry, helps him lug the fish to the ocean to set him free. The entire town is now cured of its sadness because they worked together and everyone is happy again. Because Harry's life purpose is to make everyone happy. Are we surprised?
Harry then leaves the island to explore the world because his work here had been done, off to make the rest of the world happy. Classic Harry Styles.
Anyway, it was the cutest thing in the world and I want to personally say that I am shook. My favorite part is when he is surprised by how good a taco is. Because same. And Harry Styles is a musical and cinematic legend. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
