Happy Belated Birthday Michael

To the greatest entertainer in history, happy birthday!

Happy Belated Birthday Michael

I remember his death like it JUST happened! June 25th, 2009, I was out of school on my summer break. I was at my aunt's house. We randomly turned the t.v. to the news channel. At first, it was not clear if he had passed away or not. The only thing everyone was sure about was that he had been found unresponsive and was rushed to the hospital.

From what I remember, it was not confirmed that he actually passed away until a few hours later in the day. When the news finally came, I really cannot remember what I thought. My shock usually is delayed. I think days later is when my disbelief kicked in.

Everyone in my family always played his music. I grew up hearing it, but I didn't really appreciate it until after his death. Now that I am older, if I discover a great artist I completely focus on their style and craft, I take it all in. I fully EXPERIENCE it while they are living. Like a lot of people, "Thriller" creeped me out. The video itself was entertaining to me; but listening to the song late at night did not sit well with me. My favorite song by him is probably "Rock My World".

Michael Jackson is one of the very few artists I know who's music LITERALLY travels from generation to generation. Elders, adults, teenagers, even YOUNG children know who he is and his music. It is very hard to accomplish such task, but if you do, you are GOLDEN! If I have children, I can't wait to blast his music even while they are still in my womb; I will legit put bluetooth speakers up against my belly, THEY WILL KNOW WHO HE IS!

Happy belated birthday KING! I hope you continue to rest in peace.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
