Halloween? Christmas!

Halloween is getting closer and that means so is my favorite holiday!

Halloween? Christmas!

Now that we've entered October, Halloween is starting to get closer and closer. So of course I want to use this opportunity to talk about... Christmas! Yeah I know that doesn't really make any sense but I can't help getting excited till we take down the Halloween decorations and I get to lavish my apartment with Christmas decorations!

So I guess the obvious question is why do I love Christmas so much? I think we all love Christmas at least a little, but I'm fairly sure I love Christmas a little more than your average human.

That's a question that essentially boils down to my love for the Christmas spirit that gives everyone at my house(and myself) a real sense of happiness and we all become much more optimistic and excited during most of December.

It's also all the little things that add up and create the Christmas spirit. It's the joyful Christmas music always playing throughout the house, it's the giant Christmas tree my family has in the living room, it's the holly strung along the railings, it's the Christmas lights glittering so beautifully from almost every house, it's the way the boring expressions of everyday interactions are lighted by "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Holidays", it's the wreath hanging from our door that reminds me every time I come home that today is part of the happiest season, and it's the joyful expressions I see on everyone in my family. How could all that leave anything but intense joy?

So yeah I love Christmas. I honestly can't wait to get the chance to set up my own decorations and to maybe even make a Christmas dessert or two. But most importantly, I can't wait for my family to all be together again for only a week or two, but for an incredibly precious week or two.

I can't wait for Christmas and I hope I left all of you very confused since it's only early October!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
