New Years Eve is one of the most fun holidays of the year. Spending time with family and eating the traditional pork, lentels, and black-eyed peas or even eating 12 grapes at midnight; Going out with your group of friends or that special someone.

Everyone is having a great time reminiscing on the previous year, but excited for the new year to come. Many people will set goals to better themselves in some way. However, every year I feel myself getting the same feeling when the clock strikes midnight. A sense of relief and change to start fresh.

Where all can you go to celebrate? Here is a list of the 11 best places to ring in the new year:

1. Midnight Fireworks at Reunion Tower

Reunion Tower will host a festival with fireworks at midnight. The fireworks show will last 18 minutes, and include 4,000 pyrotechnic special effects. Don't worry if you can't make it, you can enjoy the show on TV through 19 different networks in Arkansas, Texas, Missouri and Louisiana.

2. AC Lounge New Years Eve Bash

The newly opened AC Hotel by Marriott invites Dallasites to countdown to 2018 at the AC Lounge’s Neighborhood New Year’s Eve. Enjoy a festive evening with family and friends, while sipping a variety of signature cocktails.No need to worry bout the cost, this event is free!

3. NYE with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra

Head to the Meyerson Symphony Center in Downtown Dallas for a NYE production by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Expect fun pieces. Prices vary from 47-210 dollars, but don't worry it'll be worth your while.

4. Dallas NYE Ball

Feel like dancing? Polish your dancing shoes, the Dallas NYE Ball transform 3 levels of the Crowne Plaza Hotel into dance floors. The top floor will be dedicated to throwback tunes from the 80s and 90s.

The second floor will be set up as a Las Vegas themes club with top 40 hits, hip-hop and EDM. The first floor will include an beer pong with cash prizes, and pop music.

5. Brew Years Eve


Raise a pint to the New Year at the local Noble Rey Brewing Co. in Dallas. Enjoy a night of live music plus bottomless beer and bites.

6. Closing Night of Prairie Lights

Prairie Lights is a two-mile stretch of decorations and festive fun featuring seasonal food, family fun, and more than 4 million lights. If you haven't driven through this display, this is the night before its gone.

7. NYE at Legacy Food Hall

Legacy Hall, Plano's new food and drinking food hall is throwing a NYE party. Visit one or more of the more the many food stalls and bars for bites and drinks throughout the evening.The official count down will be displayed for everyone to see and all of the bars will offer champagne specials.

8. Countdown to Noon at Sci-Tech Discovery Center in Frisco.

Adults aren't the only ones who celebrate New Years, Little ones can still celebrate New Year’s Eve without missing their bedtimes. Celebrate the holiday early with a Star Lab Planetarium show, face painting, balloon artists.

9. Happy Noon Year Celebration

Arboretum offers a kid friendly NYE celebration with arts and crafts, music, and science.

10. NYE at PINSTACK

Ring in the New Year at PINSTACK! PINSTACK is gearing up host a special NYE party with doing and entertainment offerings across its thee North Texas locations. Tickets are required and guests can choose from three package options.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
