The Grooviest Summer Playlist
Julian Glander

I recently made my summer ’18 playlist, which if you know me is a huge necessity because I will be listening/adding to it all the time. So I wanted to go ahead and share my favorite songs that I've discovered this summer, some you may already know, some of which you will be blessed with just now discovering. Most of these songs are pretty chill but also so upbeat. Without further ado, here’s a snippet of my playlist plus a description of how I feel about each song.

1. "Hello?" by Clairo, Rejjie Snow

This song has the coolest background music and it makes my heart do this thing “!!!!!!”. But honestly everything by Clairo makes me feel like that because her music fits exactly any mood I'm in. She's got such a cute beat literally makes me feel like I'm in love!! While I’m here though she doesn't have as many songs out so her EP diary 001 is definitely a chill banger.

2. "Electric U" by Kid Bloom

This song is a confidence booster, it will make you feel like you're on top of the moon but also in a very chill way.

3. "Tropicana" by Topaz Jones

This song came up in my suggested and it makes me want to lay by the pool. It definitely is a chill lit song that you need in your summer playlist.

4. "Island In The Sun" by Weezer

If this isn't in your summer playlist and doesn't remind you of "Aquamarine" then we definitely shouldn't be friends. That’s all I have to say about this one.

5. "Cucumber Water" by Biskwiq

My BFF blessed my ears with this musical creation one night when we were eating a bunch of candy in my car so I highly recommend you do that while listening to this song. Because now that’s all I think about when I hear it.

6. "Lovers Rock" by TV girl

Definitely for you if you're trying to feel like you're in a 70s movie. But really I love TV girl and that lyrics to this song.

7. "Eventually and Yes I’m Changing" by Tame Impala

I’d play Currents and never skip a single song but these two I relate to so much.

8. "Sweet to Me" by Summer Salt

I am running down the beach to this song for sure, loving life, and living it up.

9. "Teeth" by The Japanese House

Honestly, you're just bugging with your friends to this one. It’s probably playing in the background as you and your people just hang.

10. "Shake Something" by Louis The Child, Joey Purp

I know this is what y'all really want, definitely poolside and pregame worthy.

11. "Sweet Sundae" by Temporex

You're in a video game feels futuristic but it is not.

12. "Resonance" by Home

If you have been around since that one time I made a vine with this in the background…congrats honestly thanks for sticking with me through that but this song is always a YES.

13. Anything Weezy

My soul starts singing with me.

These kinda turned into scenarios along with the song but I hope you like these!! This is merely a snippet for the full experience you should most definitely give my Spotify a visit nourskarouni #shamelessselfpromo.

Peace n love.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
