Whether you're single or taken, if you want to have a low-key Valentine's Day, you're most likely going to be staying indoors and watching a movie. So, why not get festive and watch a rom-com! I am an avid movie watcher but more importantly, I just love romcoms! Some of my favorite movies are romantic comedies and the genre just never gets old to me. So, here are some old and new romcoms to watch again or for the first time on Valentine's Day!
1. "13 Going on 30"
This is by far one of my favorite romcom and movies of all time. The movie is such a light-hearted comedy that really shows that some people really get better looking with age, know who your true friends are, and no matter what age you are, you still are always going to be a scared thirteen-year-old trying to navigate love. It's a great movie that features some amazing tracks from the 1980s and a dance scene where the cast performs Thriller by Michael Jackson. So, cheers to being thirty and flirty and thriving.
2. "Some Like It Hot"
If you're a fan or White Chicks then you're definitely going to like this movie because the plots are identical. The only thing is that you're going to have look past the fact that this movie is shot in black and white and pay attention to the jokes.Another thing that is good about this movie is the subtle girl power, that will remind you that you don't need a man if you have killer friends! Plus, Marilyn Monroe is in this movie and her character is just a lost little puppy dog wanting to be loved. And, aren't we all lost little puppies to an extent.
3. "10 Things I Hate About You"
It's a classic romantic comedy but also there are so many heartfelt moments. I think that most heartfelt and realest moment is when Kat reads her poem to the class in which she admits that she still has feelings for Patrick. Although it's about the things she dislikes about him when you have true feelings for someone you like them for the good and the bad. This movie is the most realistic movie because it really does tell the perfect high school story. Oh, and Heath Ledger (a total babe) sings Can't Take My Eyes Off You.
4. "Pretty Woman"
It's a classic. But it has Julia Roberts and she is known as America's Sweetheart. And in this movie, she is such a sweetheart even though her character is a prostitute. But, it does highlight an important lesson about love: the person you're in love with should make you a better person and want you to drop all your bad habits. And, Richard Gere's character totally does that. Plus, there is an amazing shopping scene in there and it does show that payback is a bitch.
5. "The Proposal"
What's so great about this movie is that it has Betty White in it. I think she is the MVP of this movie. Another thing that's good about this movie is the chemistry Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock have, their dynamic together is so spot on and perfect. Plus, the plot is good! And there is a scene of Sandra Bullock singing "Get Low" by Lil Jon in the woods and that never gets old.
