11 Things I'm Hella Grateful For On Thanksgiving

Ah, Thanksgiving...a day of food, family, and football. What better way to celebrate than to think about what really matters in this awesome day.

1. Food

Aaaaaaand if you're as lucky as me, you get to go to multiple houses and get twice the amount of food. That's not even counting the days of leftovers you get to enjoy!

2. Gravy

This amazing wonder truly deserves its own separate category from food.

3. Family

Aside from the snarky comments about what you're doing with your life, it can be pretty fun to be with your entire family, especially the cousins who are as cool as you.

4. Football!

Between the rounds of your meals, everyone is in the living room enjoy a good game.

5. Making Black Friday plans with the previously mentioned cool cousinsĀ

What's more fun, the cheap prices or just goofing around in a store at 3am?

6. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Seriously though, some of the floats are pretty awesome.

7. A nice week long vacation

Not as permanent as Christmas where you don't see your friends for a month, but a nice little break from essays and calculus.

8. A good nap after stuffing yourself with, well, stuffing.

What feels better than a nice nap in your cozy bed after eating everything in sight?

9. Listening to your family argue about politics

Wow! Dinner and a show....until they drag you into it.

10. Pie

Pumpkin, Apple, Custard, oh the choices!

11. You can FINALLY start your countdown to Christmas without all the judgement.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
