For the past few years, I had deemed myself as the "mom" friend due to my willingness and eagerness to look out for my friends as well as help them in every way possible. I had gladly accepted and even flaunted this role a bit because I always assumed that it fit my personality perfect. For the first time, though, I was called the "grandma" friend and suddenly, everything made so much more sense. Here are a few ways to tell if you are the "grandma" friend.

1. You're caring, but not condescending

Like a grandma, you will always look out for those you care about. You'll spoil your friends and spend your time obsessing about their wellbeing, but you also won't yell at them or discipline them like a parent would. Instead, you comfort them and help them with no consequence.

2. You like to socialize, but you have a cut-off

I don't know about you, but my grandparents have a better social life than I do. Naturally, though, they don't stay out through all hours of the night. I'm the same way -- I enjoy a night out with friends, but I definitely start yawning any time after midnight.

3. You find yourself doing crosswords or playing sudoko

Oh, and don't forget about word searches and solitaire, either. You may not sit in an armchair and do them with a cup of tea next to you, but you find them to be both challenging and entertaining.

4. You have a "nerdy" hobby

Whether it's binge-reading an entire series in a short period of time or knitting a blanket (guilty as charged on both of those), you have a hobby that other people may deem odd or dorky. Don't ever be ashamed of it, though!

5. You make the best cookies

Or brownies, or pie, or any baked good, really. I never realized just how much I loved to bake until I started making brownies at least once a week in my apartment. You're definitely a grandma if you love making stuff for other people, too.

6. Your taste in music doesn't align with what's popular

Now, I don't expect you to have sixties music on replay, but being disconnected from pop culture in any way certainly amplifies your grandma likeliness. Of course, bonus points to you if you actually do have the same music taste as your grandma.

7. You love to gossip, but not getting involved

You're lying if your grandma isn't one of the biggest gossips you've ever met. With a group of friends bigger than any I've ever had, it's no surprise that almost every time I'm at her house, someone calls to talk about that thing Karen did at brunch the day before.

Being the grandma friend is definitely not something to be ashamed of. In fact, you should be proud of all of the things above because not only do they make you an adorable person, but they add up to make your personality! Anyway, enjoy being a grandma and getting to bed at 8pm!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
