Yes. I do believe you can be a good person without God and not all non-christians are bad people.
Some people call themselves Christians but sadly, they aren’t living to that potential. Many people are living better lives than Christians. Wait, what did you say? What I mean by that is, many Christians are more judgemental, liars, or rude than non-Christians. Therefore, those qualities are not what a true Christian should possess. Some non-Christians genuinely help others and are more understanding than people who go to church.
I am not saying that all Christians are evil and mean people. I am saying that some people who call themselves Christians are not even close to one. Some are just really good at deceiving people.
I have seen it. Many Christians have a critical view on people who don't call themselves Christians. That is not a “Christian,” and they should not be calling themselves “Christians.” I think these people are being extremely religious and have put the bible out of context. Instead of learning the right meaning to points of the bible, they like to put a spin on verses in order to use them as back-up and proof for their bad actions and decisions.
So please do not be that person who calls themselves a Christian but ignores what the bible has said like in verse, 1 John 4:7 “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.”
Or an important verse from Mark 12:28-31:
“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Jesus loved everyone. He loved sinners, prostitutes, tax collectors, and etc. I think we should all love each other no matter what your gender, beliefs, mistakes and problems are. I believe everyone should be loved.
Love is not hate, jealousy, judgemental or mean. To be a Christian you have to love one another and ignore each other's flaws.
I think at the end of the day no matter how good of a person you are, you still need God in your life, and even though I am in a place that I can relate that although I do not have a dedicated or consistent relationship with God at the moment, I still consider myself a good person.
What can be bothering to some non-Christians is when people who call themselves “Christians” are fast to shut-down anyone who comes to them that does not share the same beliefs and values.
So, yes, I believe that even though you are not a Christian you can still be good and happy. Then of course, those two feelings don’t always last long.
I think it’s important not to judge another person for their religion or beliefs. We are all unique people and we all make different choices.
Even though not too many people may think the same way, you would be surprised to find that it is true.
