Because why WOULDN'T I be friends with her?

Why I Am Glad That I Became Best Friends With My Ex's New Girlfriend
  1. She makes him truly happy. Was I upset at her at first? Yes. I was so angry at first, but then after I got to exchanging numbers and talking with this “awful person” that had “ruined my life” all night and now after years of seeing them together, I realize that he is happier now than I have ever seen him.
  2. She is honest. She is one of the only people in my life that just tells it like it is. She doesn’t hold back, ever. She was completely honest with me about everything that happened between them and I am so grateful for that. I know that if she could have the courage to tell me something like that, she can tell me anything.
  3. We get along with each others families so wonderfully. Seriously. She will just show up to my house when I’m not even there just to hang out with my little brother. Oh and my mom loves her like she is her fourth child. Anna will come over, sit at the bar stools with my mom, and just make fun of me for at least 20 minutes, exactly like a sibling would. She goes on family vacations with us too. As for her family, I am close with them too. Her brother is like my own and I watch Fox News and talk about politics with her dad. I love her mom and when I met her for the first time, she welcomed me so warmly and I just knew that I was going to love her.
  4. We get the best reactions out of people when we tell them how we met. Apparently becoming best friends with your ex boyfriend’s new girlfriend isn’t something people do very often … It’s honestly my favorite story to tell.
  5. She has helped me gain a big brother. Yes, my ex boyfriend is now like my big brother.I have someone that constantly picks on me and calls me mean names (and yes, I take it as a compliment), but I also have someone that is willing to punch any guy that ever even thinks about hurting me. I have someone who is going to take care of me and look out for me no matter what.
There is never a way that I will ever be able to thank Henrik for bring Anna into my life. Because of her, I know what it is like to have a big sister. She has shown me over the past three years she has been with Henrik what it is like to have found true love; what it means to be truly happy. Now that I have found someone else, I have taken what I have learned from them and have used it in my own relationship. The only advice I have to give is to not look at your ex’s new significant other and hate them. Get to know them. Love them. Don’t judge them. Be glad that they have made your ex as happy as they are now. The only thing that I wish had happened differently would be meeting her sooner.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
