"Give Us Your Top Ten List"

Wake Forest's application is known to ask for prospective students' Top 10 Lists. The question is vague, sort of scary, and begging for creativity. Students respond with anything from their favorite ice cream flavors to their favorite areas of the world. I went with my favorite... Senses? Feelings? Both?

The feel of sizzling sparkling water on my tongue

The taste of a soy dirty chai latte from my favorite coffee shop

The feeling of tense muscles released in peaceful warrior pose

The sound of my cat’s relaxed purr as she approaches me for warmth

The sights of lights on a late night downtown drive

The taste of routine, established family sunday night dinners

The sound of the brimming organized chaos of a high school class change

The sight of an organized list when the responsibilities feel overwhelming

The touch of my comforter enclosing me after a long day's work

Those moments when the noises, smells, and sights dim and my thoughts take over.
