Just last Wednesday, I was having a lunch date with one of my sisters at a favorite restaurant of ours, Blaze Pizza. I actually wasn't joking when I said we're at that place every single week; I'm just waiting for them to make us the official spokespersons of the company. But that's beside the point!
We were eating our pizzas when she asked me the very question that inspired me to write this article: "Why are some girls so afraid to eat in front of guys?" It really got me thinking.
It's perfectly common and even normal to feel self-conscious about how you look eating in front of people. I tend to feel super self-conscious when I accidentally make a mess while eating, or when I end up stuffing my mouth too much with food. Sometimes the food is just that damn good, man.
There are some girls that just don't care and will scarf down half a pie when they're eating with a guy. I like to think of them as serving our community and being a role model for everyone.
Some girls even get self-conscious to the point where they will be at a restaurant with a guy and seriously eat nothing the whole time. Yes, apparently that is something that really happens. Even the most generally self-conscious of people just have to be like:
Girls that are going through this problem, I get wanting to look "prim and proper" for your guy at all times, especially if it's your crush or someone you are meeting for the first time or so, you always want to give him a great first impression. To feel nervous about how he will see you eating a Triple Dipper at Chili's is very normal.
But sis...for the love of God,DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF FOR A MAN!
Whenever we eat in front of guys and start to feel nervous about how we look, 99% of that is us just overthinking everything. Yes, it does sound ridiculous, but when you have anxiety you start to overthink a lot of things, even things that are actually minuscule and trivial in the grand scheme of things. It can get bad to the point where you end up skipping it altogether, depending on what it is.
But girls, guess what. Guys really do not care at all how you look when you eat. They really only care that you're eating.
So if you have a hot date coming up and you're nervous because of that, don't be. If you have a favorite food item that you must have every time, pick that and dine to your heart's content! Of course, I'm not saying eat like a major slob, but don't sweat the situation either. He will appreciate your passion for not only food but also for your love of Cheddar Bay biscuits. If he judges you for how you look while eating, kick him to the curb right after you eat his biscuits on top of your own.
