10 things you can do instead of complaining about your boyfriend playing 'fortnite'

Stop wasting your energy being jealous of a video game.

If there isn't an organization called "Girlfriends Against Fortnite" by now, I would be shocked. We have all seen the Snapchat stories and Instagram posts that are captioned with something like "The one photo I got of him not playing Fortnite" or "My boyfriend is cheating on me with this hot bitch called Fortnite."

While these posts are hilariously true, I think that the ladies who feel replaced by Fortnite need to recognize that this could be their chance for some WELL-DESERVED "me time." Your boyfriend is going to play Fortnite and I sadly don't see that changing anytime soon, but here are somethings that would be a much better use of your energy than watching him play.

1. Do some self-care

Giphy

Paint your nails, make-up a new hairdo or makeup look, try meditation, TREAT YO SELF.

2. Go eat your favorite meal

Giphy

Whether it's Chipotle or Jimmy John's, treat yourself to that one meal that always cheers you up. For me, it's some dank truffle Mac and cheese.

3. Watch that movie you've been dying to watch

Giphy

Or that one chick-flick you haven't seen in a while. Nothing gives me a cathartic release of emotion quite like Titanic.

4. Start a new book (or finish the one you’ve been reading for a year)

Giphy

There is about a stack of half-read books on my night stand. That is a problem.

5. Call your mom, dad, grandma, brother, cousin and find out how their life has been

Giphy

No one knows you better than your family, and they will listen to you rant about your boyfriend's antics.

6. Go for a walk without a destination

Giphy

You know that saying 'stop and smell the roses'? Yeah, you should try that sometime.

7. Take a bubble bath

Giphy

I love me a good lavender scented bubble bath. Maybe a cup of tea in tow. That sounds like a pretty lit evening to me.

8. Go get a massage

Giphy

Take an hour to quiet your mind and just be touched by a stranger (not in a creepy way).

9. Workout

Giphy

Working out has always been a stress reliever for me. Nothing helps me calm down quite like a good back squat.

10. Go out for a girls dinner with your besties (or if your bestie is a guy that works too)

Giphy

Drink some wine, eat some good food and talk about those things you can only talk about with your gal pals.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
