I'm The Girl Who Wears A Full Face Of Makeup To Walk To Class In The Snow

I have no shame in saying it.

It's freezing cold outside.

The snow is falling.

Most people have scarves wrapped around their faces to block out the cold wind.

But not me.

I get up in the morning before my classes to shower, do my hair, and do my makeup.

Why?

Because I want to.

Since high school, I've always felt that if I look my best, I will do my best. I used to take my exams in khakis and a button up shirt, while everyone else sat in jeans and a t-shirt.

That's always been me.

Even if I wear sweatpants to the grocery store, I will still put on makeup. Hey, at least it looks like I tried a little!

When I go to get my hair colored or cut, I always try to wear a full face of makeup.

Perfecting my makeup for school does not imply that I'm looking for attention, and it doesn't mean that I'm too insecure to not wear it. It just shows that I want to feel good about myself. I don't always feel great about my appearance when I go without makeup, so wearing it makes me feel better.

When I go to class in sweatpants without makeup, I feel sloppy and lazy.

When I go to class dressed up without makeup, I feel like I didn't put forth all of the efforts that I could have.

And I really do believe that wearing makeup causes me to do better in school.

I know that by the time I get to class, I've already been up a while because I had to do my makeup. That helps me to feel more awake. And I feel better about myself, which automatically raises my confidence in whatever I am doing.

I'm not saying that every girl has to wear makeup to her 7:30s. It just makes me personally feel better about myself as I walk around campus.

So even with all of the freezing rain, snow, ice, and wind that the midwest has gotten recently, I still choose to put on all of my makeup before I leave my apartment in the morning.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
