A College Girl's Road to a Night Out

Getting Dressed As Told By New Girl

You’re in the middle of the perfect post dinner nap when your friend busts into your room and wakes you up yelling…

Considering you’re half asleep, the thought of getting dressed and going out makes you want to throw up. But right as you're about to tell your friend you refuse to leave your bed, three more of your friends run into your room screaming…

So your FOMO kicks in and you start to get ready. You finish your makeup, do your hair, and then head over to your closet. This is the moment when you realize you have NOTHING to wear. You stare into your closet thinking…

You start tearing apart your wardrobe, trying on everything imaginable. Since you are heading to the bar, tonight you decide to dress up a little. For some reason you think throwing on a little bodycon dress in the dead of winter is a good idea. You ask your friends to come into your room for outfit approval, they take one look and say…

Oops. I guess that’s a no. You try out another outfit with a nice pair of tight leather pants. Your friends think you look hot but all you can think to yourself is…

Another no. After trying on a million more outfits, you end up laying on the floor in your room completely naked refusing to go out. Your friend looks at you, rolls their eyes at your dramatic fit and says…

But you've concluded that there is absolutely nothing in your closet that’s going to make the cut for tonight, so you resort to texting your group message to see if you can borrow something from someone else. The text says…

Within seconds, your friends offer you a helping hand. You start scouring their closets for the perfect top. Finally you find exactly what you're looking for: The holy grail shirt. You stare at its beauty and ask yourself…

You double check with your friend if it is okay to borrow it and you promise a million times to take good care of it. Finding the perfect outfit makes you feel like it's Christmas morning. You jump into your friends arms and tell them…

You go back to your room, throw on the top with your favorite skinny jeans and heels, check yourself out in the mirror, give yourself a little pep talk and think…

Hyped up on the newly found confidence the outfit gave you and your excitement to show it off, you bust into the pregame with a bottle of tequila in your hands yelling…

You take a few well-deserved shots, head to the bar and think to yourself…

But who cares? College is a safe place to make bad decisions, right? You have the perfect outfit on, you look hot, and you’re ready to have a good time. So you kick back a few more drinks and spend the rest of your night looking like this…

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
