College is all about getting up 10 minutes before your class, throwing on whatever you can find and running out the door. I can contest that college is not a fashion show and no one feels judged when walking into class with a baggy shirt and sweatpants. College isn’t about trying to impress other students by walking into class with a full face of makeup and a stylish new outfit. Most of the time, I can barely pinpoint people who do that. The thing about getting up a couple minutes before class and rushing out the door is that you’re not prepared (or maybe you are, but I’m definitely not).
For me, getting up a little earlier than usual, putting on a nice outfit, and doing my hair for once can put me in such a great mood that I’m ready to tackle my day full of classes. Doing this can help you assist your day into being a good day. If you were to get up earlier, get dressed up, and eat a nice breakfast, you feel empowered to live your life in a great mood. Statistically, waking up early and really waking yourself up in the morning can help you achieve better grades and help your generally raise your self-confidence.
Even though, many people feel as if getting in an extra 30 minutes of sleep is more beneficial, it may be favorable to have a nice meal and to look better. Growing up, my mother and my friend’s mothers would always say “when you look better, you feel better.”
While making my way through high school, there were rarely days where I didn’t look nice. Until about senior year, then I started to just stroll into school without really caring about looking put together. When coming to college, all my older friends would constantly tell me that it’s so nice because no one judges you for rolling in in your pajamas and they were right.
I consistently see girls and boys walking to class in sweatpants and a sweatshirt and no one thinks any differently of them. Yes, doing this is so easy and incredibly simple, especially when you’ve had a long night and have an early class. But for me, I think it’s beneficial for you to get up early, at least once or twice a week, and actually get ready.
Do your hair, instead of putting on hat. Put on jeans and a cute shirt, instead of putting on leggings and a sweatshirt. And maybe if you’re feeling up to it, throw on some mascara to make your eyes appear more awake. Doing this will not only cause for you to have a good day and feel more put together, but also it will boost your confidence by having friends and family telling you that you look good today. You deserve to feel complete and accomplished and if you need a little help doing so, get up early, have a nice breakfast and get ready for once and you will feel better.
