A lot of people have negative things to say about astrology and the belief in horoscopes. The idea that the way the stars align could have an effect on why people are the way they are seems bizarre to many people.
You may also be a non-believer because your zodiac sign doesn’t align perfectly with your personality characteristics and qualities, but this isn’t all what horoscopes are about.
My birthday is April 13th, making me an Aries. A number of the traits that go along with being an Aries fi me to a TEE. Aries are known to be very active and energetic, which are definitely traits that describe me. I could get two hours of sleep and still somehow wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day.
Another Aries trait which isn’t as positive but very relatable to me is how impulsive I can be. Sometimes I find myself saying something or making a decision without fully thinking it through first.
Now, I know what you’re thinking- these are characteristics that could fit anyone no matter what your zodiac sign is. This is true, but there are a lot of positive things that come just from seeing your so called “born into traits” from your zodiac.
It didn’t click to me that being impulsive really was a weakness of mine until I read about it through my horoscope. Seeing it in front of me made me evaluate this flaw and from there, I’ve been able to work on it.
Besides predetermined characteristics, your horoscope can also serve as a subtle prediction for how your day might go, what energies lie ahead, or what is the best approach for a current or upcoming situation.
Horoscopes have the quality of being vague, yet oddly specific at the same time. The other morning, my horoscope read "choose your words carefully during confrontation". Seems pretty vague, right? I shook it off, thinking it was unimportant- until later on that day when I got in an argument with my mom and referring back to that advice is the best thing I could have done!
Astrology skeptics say people tend to mold their daily horoscope to mean whatever they want it to, finding coincidences that seem fit with whatever is happening in their life. This is sometimes true, but who says that's a bad thing?
Finding connections between your astrological forecast and what is currently affecting you is the beauty of horoscopes- it can guide you in a direction where you most need it.
So, I'm not telling you to base major decisions off of your horoscope app, or to judge someone just based off their sign. But if you wanna convince yourself that your horoscope telling you to "treat yourself today" means having an extra piece of cake, then eat that cake!
