Me

A lot of people tell me I’m crazy because of it, but I think the winter time is so much better than the summer. Sure the summer time may have its perks, from boating to tanning and swimming, but once you get past the fun that those things bring, all you have left is a hot sweaty mess. It’s too hot to actually enjoy being outside for a long period of time and legally you can only remove so many layers of clothes to try to cool off. I mean who wants to be sweaty and sticky all day right?

In the winter time you can bundle up in lots of layers. You can wear those adorable scarfs and boots that stay tucked away in your closet all summer long and to complete your winter look you can even add a super cute beanie. The best part about it is, if you get hot you can always take layers off.

Let’s not forget to add that cold weather is the perfect opportunity to have a bonfire, there's nothing better than a warm fire during the cold weather and since there’s a fire you might as well make some s’mores! If you aren't already sold on why winter time is way better than the summer, when the fire finally dies down or doesn’t warm you up enough, the winter time is the perfect weather to cuddle up with that special someone and watch a movie together, so not only can you make some delicious snacks but it also makes for great bonding time wether it's with a significant other, family, or just a friend.

Being from the south we don’t see snow too often, so when it does happens it’s a pretty big deal for most of us, and you’ll never see it snow in the summer which is another reason why I like winter more. Besides the fact that the snow looks absolutely beautiful, When it does snow here there is so much you can do without leaving your house (because we all know most southerners can’t drive in the snow.)

You can build snowmen, have snowball fights, and make snow angels. When you get too cold you can go inside and enjoy a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate, you can have grilled cheese and tomato soup, all of the delicious things that are too hot during the summer months.

Before I forget to mention it, the colder weather makes a hot bubble bath a million times more relaxing. Also, If you are brave enough to drive in all the madness that snow and ice brings to the south, the winter months are the perfect opportunity to head to the mountains, you can ski, snow board, snow tube, ice skate the possibilities are endless.

Also, you can’t beat the amazing views you will get to see in the mountains. Sure the summertime has its perks, but I will always love the winter weather the most.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
