We all (hopefully) have that person, or even a few people, that we consider a forever friend. It took me 20 years to figure out what that means, but I think I finally understand. This is the friend that doesn't have to be with you all the time. You can go a week, a month, or even a year apart, and they are still one of the most important people in your life.
This is the friend that isn't going to tell you what you want to hear, they are going to tell you what you need to hear. As cliche as it is, I love the people that are going to tell me their honest opinion. Not what they think will make me happy, but what they think will make me become the best possible version of myself. Even if that means hurting my feelings or making me upset, I know that they will be there to support me, no matter what is happening.
This is going to be the friend that is not going to judge you. They are the ones that have always got your back, even if you're doing something incredibly stupid (chances are they are right alongside you).
This is the person that your family considers part of the family. You've spent holidays and you've gone on countless vacations together. They are a part of all conversations, and sometimes you even walk into your house and find them sitting with your family eating dinner (this has happened to me a few too many times).
This is the friend who you have countless inside jokes with. You finish each other sandwiches, and can't get through a conversation without a giggle. They are always making you smile and they know how to cheer you up on a bad day!
We are all so thankful for our forever friends, they are such a blessing to us everyday. Hold on to them forever, and be sure to thank them every now and then for putting up with your nonsense.
