Halloween just ended and you know what that means? Thanksgiving is right around the corner! This is the one day out of the whole year where we don't feel guilty about completely filling our plates up two or three times over. My family and I have been doing the same thing for Thanksgiving for years and years. Other than spending time with family, food is an important part of Thanksgiving. Here are some of my thoughts on certain Thanksgiving foods and whether or not I like them!
1. Stuffing. I LOVE stuffing, except without cranberries. They do not belong in there. I heard stuffing was supposed to actually be made and stuffed inside of a turkey? Out of all of my years of hardcore Thanksgiving-ing, I have never seen nor heard of stuffing actually being inside of a turkey.
2. Turkey. I certainly am not a fan of it at all. I don't like either kind of the meat. That surprises a lot of people, but I am not a huge fan of lunch meat whatsoever. Whenever they try to make it "fancier," I am immediately biased. I feel like I've confused a lot of people by saying that I don't like turkey, but that I love Thanksgiving.
3. Mac 'n' Cheese. Do not get me started. I love that stuff. There is absolutely nothing bad about noodles and hot cheese. End of story.
4. Pumpkin Pie. I've never had pumpkin pie, but I know for sure that I will NOT like it. The texture seems too weird and when I look at it, the crust to filling ratio is way off.
5.Cranberry sauce. I have only tried it once and that was also my last. It is way too sweet for me and honestly, I don't see the point of it. We should use the jam of a fruit that everyone actually likes.
6. Cornbread. I only love it when it's moist and fluffy. Also, warm and with strawberry jam on top. Try it like that and it is delicious. But also, I heard that some recipes leave whole kernels of cooked corn in the bread? Count me out.
7. Apple pie. This is the opposite of what I said about pumpkin...I LOVE apple pie. There is absolutely nothing better than heating it up in the microwave and putting a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
8. Sweet Potatoes. This is another food that I haven't tried and never will. Are they a dessert or side dish? The consistency and flavor throw me off, but I could see how people like the gooey marshmallow on top.
9. Mashed Potatoes. Nothing is better than my Grandma's mashed potatoes. She mixes it with turnip mash and it tastes AMAZING. Thank you, Grandma, for your long hours in the kitchen. You are certainly loved and appreciated.
10. Green Bean Casserole. This is my all time favorite Thanksgiving dish. I could honestly probably eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Thanks, dad for making this wonderful dish!
