As the whirlwind that is classes and student life is back in full swing, I find myself sitting back and contemplating on one thing: Finding happiness. For some people, happiness can be found just by spending time with people they love. For others, it can be found by someone just smiling at them as they walk down the street. For me, it's all about the little things.
I am a genuinely happy person. It takes a lot for me to be unhappy for an extended period of time. People often comment how when they see me walking around campus, I always have a smile on my face. It's because I find happiness in the little things life has to offer. Some examples of this could be the fact that it's finally sunny after a long period of rain, the fact that I have a fairly easy class load for the day or the fact that I just talked to my mom for the first time all day. I feel that if we can take each day at a time, we really can find the happiness in the little things around us.
There is so much in life to be happy about. By appreciating the little things that make us happy, it makes the really big things even better. For me, an example of a really big thing that makes me happy would be that I got a job I had really been wanting or a really good grade on a test after spending a long time studying. There are so many little things that can lead up to this, though. Something that makes me especially happy is coming home knowing I had a productive day and don't have as much to do once I get home. Appreciate the little things, they make a big difference.
