How To Allow Good Things to Happen To You

It seems like, lots of time, only bad things happen. We focus so much on the bad that we fail to see any good happen. It doesn't have to be major, but you have to let these things happen.

We become so oblivious to the fact that good things are bound to happen even when it has been a bad day. We think that even with a bad day, nothing will go right. With this happening, we ignore any possible chance of something good to happen. It just decreases chances of good happening. Even with all the bad happening, tomorrow is a new day and a new chance to become a better version of yourself.

For the longest time, I was in a place where I wouldn't let any good to happen to me. Every day was a bad day AND even if it were to be a good day, I'd wait anxiously for something bad to happen. When something negative did happen, I was more content because I was used to being unhappy. Being happy was just as rare of finding a needle in a haystack. That's the mentality I had. I never allowed for myself to see any good.

It wasn't until I met certain people that continued to push me through the bad that I realized maybe life wasn't so bad. I had such a negative outlook on life due to my previous life experiences that I failed to understand that these people standing in front of me wanted to help me find the good. Be it just staying in and watching movies, going on day trips to Houston, or just staying at school and studying, they continuously encouraged me to see the greater good on this world, to allow good things to happen to me, and not question when something bad would happen.

So my advice to anyone out there that's struggling to find the good in life, find people who bring out the good in you. Find the people who day in and day out, encourage you to grow. The rest and the best comes after that.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
