“Are you done yet, Luke?”
“Yes,” I said dejectedly, looking away from her.
“Aw, that’s so cute Luke. I wish I could stay with you, but I can’t. I found some other guy who is so hot, and all we need is a little more money to live somewhere else. He’s willing to pay for all my expenses when he gets a job. I guess I’ll see you never. Good riddance to some pathetic, poor person like you. I hope no girl has to end up with you.”
I could not believe what had just happened. I walked outside, and sat on a bench, pondering deeply upon what had just happened. My face teared up like an endless river.
Thunder crackled, and lightning struck the ground, creating a forest fire some few hundred miles away. The scent of ambers and fresh mulch filled the air while the rain poured down heavily. I was drenched from head to toe and began to cough copiously. I was traumatized and paralyzed by her words, which were injected through my ear like a person who was administered anesthesia. I did not know what to do, for my life was falling apart.
My heart punched itself, hit the self-destruct button, and shattered into pieces while I sat in the pouring rain.
I wondered, how could someone so caring turn on me. What have I ever done to her? I realized there was no point in staying out in this hazardous weather and went back home.
I cried as soon as I hit the bed. I cried incessantly. My tears could have filled the entire Pacific Ocean ten times over.
The next morning, I could not find my keys, and when I stumbled outside, my car was missing, too. There was a note left on my door saying, “Hey it’s Emily. I needed a ride so I decided to take yours. Thanks so much! You will probably never see it again.”
I sighed, knowing there was nothing I could do. I went to my room to grab some money to rent a car, but none of it was there. I was robbed of all my money, all 30,000 dollars of it that I had safely stored in my drawer. Emily was just unbelievable. I found another note in the drawer saying: “Did I not mention I needed money earlier? Well, thanks so much for this. At least you were somewhat useful. My real boyfriend and I can move out of this state now and enjoy life. I hope you end up on the streets living your life like a dog.”
Years passed by, and my life was worth less than a penny. I had no job and survived on rations. One of my friends noticed my situation and decided to help me out by offering me a job at his place in the UK, and he gave me a plane ticket to go there. I took what I had left, which consisted of a few gold items, some money, and clothes. This brings me back to the airport.
As I was waiting for my flight, I met Emily and her boyfriend, who seemed to be in tears since she had just slapped him as hard as brick on his face. She ran to me and told me she was sorry for what she had done.
Not knowing any better, I accepted her apology, and soon, I was fast asleep. When I woke up, I faintly saw her running away with her new boyfriend. I looked around and realized that all I had left had been stolen. She had played me once more. The whole boyfriend crying scene was an act to make me feel empathetic for her. My suitcases were gone and my plane ticket was shredded into pieces.
There was yet another note saying: “Wow, Luke. You really fell for it this time. What a fool. You haven’t changed, have you? Go get a life. Boys like you, they never change. They do not know the meaning of love or sacrifice.”
