10 Festival Goers You Are Bound to Encounter This Summer

10 Festival Goers You Are Bound to Encounter This Summer

As summer quickly approaches, so does festival season. For those who love going to music festivals, there is nothing more exciting than the thought of enjoying the summer with good vibes, good music, and good people. The more I think about festival season, though, the more I think about the types of people I am bound to encounter.

1. The Festival Pro

This person knows what they're doing. From the way they dance to the way they dress, not only is it clear that this isn't their first festival (probably because they have old wristbands from Bonnarroo, Lollapalooza, Spring Awakening, Electric Forest, and Summer Camp covering their entire forearms), but they're so clearly into the music festival scene that you wonder how they afford to go to so many.

2. The Festival Virgin

The festival virgin always looks like they're scared for their lives. How can you spot one? Look for the person who always has their hands covering their ears, is clinging onto their friends for dear life, and either has the "oh no what have I done" or "wow I am so glad I am alive" look on their face.

3. The Instagrammer

Probably one of the worst people to go to a music festival with. This person wears way too much jewelry, makeup, and a ridiculous amount of flash tattoos. They expect you to be their personal photographer and clearly aren't there for the music but rather to show the world they did something cool. They are likely to cry at the end of the night because their feet hurt or because their phone died.

4. The Snapchatter

*Posts 300 second Snapchat stories of the concert you're missing out on then wonders why twelve different people deleted them.

5. Mary Poppins

Always strapped with water, money, an emergency sewing kit, two portable chargers, gum, snacks, three different shades of lipstick, lipgloss, and a Polaroid camera, this festival-goer somehow fits a whole Target into what LOOKS like a normal fanny pack.

6. The Mooch

The complete opposite of Mary Poppins: the person who has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. No water, no money, no preparation. They always ask if they can have "just a sip of water" or if they can borrow your portable charger.

7. The High Roller

You have no idea what drugs this person is on, but whatever they took makes their eyes look like a black hole.

8. The Basshead

Ahh, the basshead. Probably sporting a bandana around their neck or some sort of tie dye, the basshead talks about "riding the rail" and makes you wonder how their heads are still intact.

9. Your Festival Crush

After seeing this person at every single set you have been to, you're convinced they're your soulmate. I mean, how could they not be? They clearly like the same music as you do, and what are the chances of them standing by you at so many sets?

10. The High Schooler

If you see anyone holding a Gatorade bottle in one hand and a crushed water bottle in the other, chances are they're in high school. They think they're being ~lowkey~ and that it isn't completely obvious that they crotched vodka past security and bought Gatorade as a chaser.

While there may be stereotypes on what kind of festival goers exist, festival season is meant to be a good time for everyone. Regardless of who you are, festivals should be nothing but fun. Make memories, live in the moment, and most importantly, drink tons of water, and your festival season is bound to be one to remember.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
