FBI Invading Apple Phones

There are invaders, and it's not the aliens.

FBI Invading Apple Phones

There have been rumors for several years that the government hacks into iPhones, without the users being aware. The FBI has asked Apple to help them to hack into users phones without their knowledge, Apple refused. This February, a judge requested Apple to provide reasonable technical support to gain access into the shooter’s phone from San Bernardino. Permission was granted, the FBI was given access to iPhone software file, recovery bundle, or other software image file. The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook stated “The U.S. government has asked us for something we simply do not have, and something we consider too dangerous to create. They have asked us to build a backdoor to the iPhone.” However recently, the FBI hacked into a terrorist's iPhone without using Apple. Apple claims they do not know how to hack into their users phones. Apple asked the FBI, to teach them how they were capable of completing this task.

This is an invasion of digital privacy, now that the government has access to unlock our cell phones. Is digital age one in which privacy is no longer attainable or respect by government? I agree, that the United States government should have access to a reasonable amount of personal information if there was ever the case they need to access something for an immediate investigation. I do not agree that the United States government is given access to our iPhones, if the phone users have not done anything incriminating. This is an invasion of privacy, how does it make you feel that the government can gain access to private conversations.

If the FBI is capable of breaking into the phones of their users, there is a chance of other people to gain access as well into the phones. Other people will have obtain your data, can listen to the communication between your family and you, information regarding your whereabouts, and other affairs are open and available.

Is privacy not a trait of a democratic country, in which we can speak freely without the fear or persecution or surveillance? The 14th Amendment ensures that individuals of this country to be secure in their houses, papers, personal effects, and there should not be unreasonable searches without a warrant. With that being said the U.S. government should not have access to our phones without the users being aware.

This is basically the dialogue the U.S. government is giving the people:

People with iPhone: My phone is so secure, I can’t break into it myself.

United States Government: We actually cracked into your “secure” iPhone.

This is alarming, that the Apple the creator of iPhone and one of the biggest companies in the world are not capable of hacking into phones in comparison to the FBI. Many people are mad at Apple because they claim that Apple did not cooperate and could have prevented another terrorist attack. In the meantime, the FBI wasted a lot of time, attempting to unlock the phone. I care about this country and hope there will never be another terrorist attack again. However, I think the safety and privacy of the individuals in this country is essentially important.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
