Fashion can make or break someone, especially in today's society. We have centered on certain people for their style alone, whom now influence many. Growing up, I definitely idolized fashion bloggers, stylists, and artists, and they have taught me so much.
1. Expressing yourself in the way you perceive fashion is the most important aspect
This is the biggest thing that I have learned as a fashion-forward person, and so many others need to follow suit. You should be wearing something because you like the way it looks or the way it feels, not because other people like it or think you should. Your look is personal and needs to stay that way.
2. Color isn't necessary but can be fun
Whether it be a bright yellow top or crazy colored hair, color is playful and exciting. I used to stick to neutral tones, like many others today, but when I learned to add a pop of color here or there, my personality seemed to shine through much brighter.
3. Dressing nice is merely a preference
Sweatpants are an aesthetic, too! Just because you don't walk the streets in a dress and heels, doesn't mean you're not fashionable. Many brands like Nike, LuLu Lemon, and FabFitFun have designed many high-fashion items for the athleisure junkie.
4. Bras are a myth
Well, sometimes a bra is necessary, but if you're rocking a top that you're comfortable going commando in, do it. You'll thank me later.
These are just a few tips that saved my life while dressing myself in the morning, but there is still so much to learn. Just remember, as long as you're happy with yourself and the way you look, there's nothing to worry about.
