Recently, there has been an influx of new clothing brands, ranging from simple designs in tees to complex ones on hoodies. People as young as college students to working adults are creating many of their own personalized clothing brands to express creativity and gain profits. However, profits should not be the main driven force in creating your own clothing brand. A brand should be something that you are proud to wear and something that you want to represent.
Whenever I buy clothes, especially online, I always look at the about section or the mission page. In addition to the price of the clothes or the intricate designs, I am really attracted to the personal and specific missions of each brand. Sometimes, it is really interesting to just browse different clothing startups that each have a different and special mission.
Currently, I am loving this one clothing brand, Serengetee. They are a clothing brand that started up in 2012 through two people who studied abroad. With the experience of being abroad, they gathered information on different markets and fabrics from countries like Africa and Central America and Asia. Serengetee is mainly known for their pocket tees and they each have numerous fabrics that support the artists and families. In the end, they give back their profits to these communities to help improve their daily lives. With this, there exists the idea of each shirt or piece of clothing you buy has a special story because of the personally designed fabric that is attached to the shirt. Isn’t this mission just so motivational and amazing?
I am amazed at how special and motivational this mission is. Not only does each piece of clothing and the whole brand itself tell a story, but it makes every clothing you wear have a purpose other than to look good on you. It gives back to the underdeveloped communities and the artists that take time and effort to create these intricate fabric designs. Combining fashion and a grassroots organization, two students who went to study abroad in numerous countries founded this perfect intersection called Serengetee.
Overall, there are many clothing brands that have missions as important and special as this one. Serengetee is simply just one example of a clothing brand with a mission and I believe that all clothing brands should have a mission aside from gaining profit or fame or visual appeal.
Now, with all this information about clothing brands and online shopping, you should definitely look at the missions and about sections when shopping for your clothes and in the end, whatever you buy, you will feel even better about it, knowing that it is helping someone in an underprivileged situation or giving credit to artists that do not have the resources to display their works. I believe that these start-up clothing brands with missions as special as this one will soon grow to be huge and influential in the fashion industry and also within the global sphere.
